My name is Captain Jason Chastain. I hold a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and spent 25 years as a high school science teacher. My wife, Suzette, and I felt called to relocate to the Florida Keys, where we have become active members in the newly established Big Pine Baptist Church.

Prior to our move in 2025, I took an early retirement from teaching to pursue my life-long dream of becoming a charter boat captain. Since my first visit to the Florida Keys in 2017, I knew this was where I hoped to one day call home.

My passion for fishing began at a young age, when my grandfather, Clayton, often took my brother and I fishing in Candies Creek. Around the age of ten, my family began spending a week each summer in Englewood, Florida, where my love for saltwater fishing truly took hold. That passion has stayed with me ever since.

I further pursued this passion by studying Marine Biology in college, including time spent in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, where I developed a deeper understanding of marine life and the dynamics of the waters I fish. Over the years, I have trailered boats across Florida, fished a wide range of coastal waters, and spent countless hours learning patterns, tides, and how to consistently stay on the fish. Time spent on numerous charter trips as a client myself further shaped my approach and solidified my goal of becoming a captain.

What sets my charter apart is the experience I provide both on and off the water. With a background in education and marine biology, I don’t just take you fishing—I help you understand the water, the fish, and what it takes to be successful.

Whether you’re a seasoned angler or it’s your first time, I offer a patient, family-friendly environment where everyone can feel comfortable, have fun, and enjoy a great day on the water.

Today, I feel incredibly blessed to live and work in the Florida Keys. As a knowledgeable, educated, and family-friendly captain, I take pride in creating a safe, enjoyable, and rewarding experience for you and your family. I look forward to sharing my passion for fishing, boating, and ocean life with the people I serve.
